Three Miniatures (2020)

Originally composed for SATB choir and later adapted for a chamber ensemble (piano septet), this set of pieces was dedicated to the Fudan University Choir (FDUC) in gratitude for the three unforgettable years I spent singing and sharing memories with my friends there. Each piece reflects the influence of my favorite choral works from our repertoire in FDUC, blending late Romanticism with elements of Chinese classical music.

The lyrics are drawn from Chinese poetry spanning three eras, each capturing a unique emotional landscape:

• The first piece, whose lyrics is a poem written approximately 2,800 years ago, portrays a soldier's longing for home amidst the hardships of war.
• The second, based on a poem from around 950 years ago, explores themes of love and the delicate, ambiguous chemistry between lovers.
• The final piece, whose lyrics was written just 97 years ago, speaks of hope and ideals, reflecting the struggle of navigating uncertainty about the future.

Reminiscence （返）(2021)

The lyrics was written by my friend Daoxiao Shen（沈道箫）, telling a story of a betray, an assassination and the final relief. This piece can be thought as an art song with voice and piano accompaniment.
